Specification for the Design of Cold-Formed Stainless Steel Structural Members provides design criteria for the determination of the strength of stainless steel structural members and connections for use in buildings and other statically loaded structures. The members may be cold-formed to shape from annealed and cold-rolled sheet, strip, plate, or flat bar stainless steel material. Design criteria are provided for axially loaded tension or compression members, flexural members subjected to bending and shear, and members subjected to combined axial load and bending. The specification provides the design strength criteria using load and resistance factor design (LRFD) and the allowable stress design (ASD) methods. The reasoning behind and the justification for various provisions of the specification are also presented.

The design strength requirements of this Standard are intended for use by structural engineers and those engaged in preparing and administrating local building codes

Bracing Cold-Formed Steel Structures: A Design Guide documents the current practices related to bracing cold-formed steel structure elements and systems. For many engineers the design of structures using cold-formed steel is seen as a daunting task. This report seeks to remove some of the perceived mystery by providing readily useful information for bracing these structures. Heavy on applications and examples, this book contains design examples illustrating bracing design for various types of cold-formed steel structures, as well as an extensive list of primary reference sources. This report is presented as a design guide and will assist the practicing engineer in designing cold-formed steel structures with greater levels of reliability, safety, and economy. Topics Include: • Introduction to Bracing Design • Cold-Formed Framing • Cold-Formed Steel in Metal Building Systems • Miscellaneous Cold-Formed Steel Elements and Systems.

Comprehensive introduction to finite elastoplasticity, addressing various analytical and numerical analyses & including state-of-the-art theories: Introduction to Finite Elastoplasticity presents introductory explanations that can be readily understood by readers with only a basic knowledge of elastoplasticity, showing physical backgrounds of concepts in detail and derivation processes of almost all equations. The authors address various analytical and numerical finite strain analyses, including new theories developed in recent years, and explain fundamentals including the push-forward and pull-back operations and the Lie derivatives of tensors. As a foundation to finite strain theory, the authors begin by addressing the advanced mathematical and physical properties of continuum mechanics. They progress to explain a finite elastoplastic constitutive model, discuss numerical issues on stress computation, implement the numerical algorithms for stress computation into large-deformation finite element analysis and illustrate several numerical examples of boundary-value problems. Programs for the stress computation of finite elastoplastic models explained in this book are included in an appendix, and the code can be downloaded from an accompanying website.
