AASHTO - 1596 pages - Publisher: AASHTO; 4th edition (2007) ... Language: English - ISBN-10: 1560513543- ISBN-13: 978-1560513544

Now with newly updated seismic and foundation specifications. This major step in improved bridge design and more accurate analysis is expected to lead to bridges exhibiting superior serviceability, enhanced long-term maintainability, and more uniform levels of safety. This edition includes newly updated foundation specifications, as well as updates throughout. Based on the load and- resistance factor design philosophy (LRFD), this book is the result of a five-year research effort under AASHTO's National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP) Project 12-42, and a continued effort through AASHTO technical committees. Since the 1st edition was published in 1994, the provisions have continued to be updated and improved based on continuing research and the experience of the user community. The new specifications have been systematically tested in trial designs and have now been implemented by all 50 states, with 48 states fully implemented. As of October 2007, the LRFD design code will be mandated by FHWA for all state projects using federal funding. As of 2010, it will apply to all state bridges regardless of funding and to local bridges using federal funding. Supersedes all previous editions and interims. The single-user CD-ROM contains both the standard and metric editions of the AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications 4th Edition and is available with the book.

ACI (American Concrete Institute) Committee ... This guide presents simplified methods and design techniques that facilitate and speed the engineering of low-rise buildings within certain limitations. Material is presented in an order that follows typical design process with procedures introduced as the designer will need them in the course of a building design.

The "Building Code Requirements for Structural Concrete" ("Code") provides minimum requirements for the materials, design, and detailing of structural concrete buildings and, where applicable, nonbuilding structures. This Code addresses structural systems, members, and connections, including cast-in-place, precast, plain, nonprestressed, prestressed, and composite construction. Among the subjects covered are: design and construction for strength, serviceability, and durability; load combinations, load factors, and strength reduction factors; structural analysis methods; deflection limits; mechanical and adhesive anchoring to concrete; development and splicing of reinforcement; construction document information; field inspection and testing; and methods to evaluate the strength of existing structures. "Building Code Requirements for Concrete Thin Shells" (ACI 318.2) is adopted by reference in this Code. The Code user will find that ACI 318-14 has been substantially reorganized and reformatted from previous editions. The principal objectives of this reorganization are to present all design and detailing requirements for structural systems or for individual members in chapters devoted to those individual subjects, and to arrange the chapters in a manner that generally follows the process and chronology of design and construction. Information and procedures that are common to the design of members are located in utility chapters.

Significant Changes to Seismic Load Provisions of ASCE 7-10: An Illustrated Guide focuses on the revisions to the seismic load requirements set forth in the latest edition of the Standard for minimum design loads. Mirroring the organization of the seismic chapters in ASCE 7-10, this handy reference briefly summarizes each change to the seismic provisions that might affect actual practice or enforcement and immediately follows up with the precise wording of the change. The impact of each update is explained in clear, straightforward language accompanied by diagrams, examples, and color photographs and illustrations to enrich the reader's understanding. Significant Changes to the Seismic Load Provisions of ASCE 7-10: An Illustrated Guide translates the changes to the seismic provisions of ASCE Standard 7-10 into a form readily accessible by structural engineers, architects, contractors, building officials and inspectors, and allied professionals.

Snow Loads: Guide to the Snow Load Provisions of ASCE 7-10 provides detailed authoritative description of the snow load provisions of ASCE/SEI Standard 7-10. With clear, concise language, Snow Loads illustrates the key concepts and guides users in applying the provisions in the design of new and existing structures that are subject to falling or drifting snow. Like its predecessors that accompanied earlier editions of the Standard, this new book includes examples of flat roof loads, sloped roof loads, partial loads, and all types of conventional drift loading. New material includes design examples for leeward drift and sliding loads on adjacent structures and an improved discussion of bays susceptible to ponding loads. The Frequently Asked Questions chapter has been expanded and now covers six additional questions.

This manual is the thirteenth major update of the AISC Steel Construction Manual, which was first published in 1927. With this revision, the previously separate Allowable Stress Design and Load and Resistance Factor Design methods have been combined. Thus, this Manual replaces both the 9th Edition ASD Manual and the 3rd Edition LRFD Manual. Much of the HSS Connections Manual has also been incorporated and updated in this Manual. The following specifications, codes, and standards are printed in Part 16 of this Manual: 2005 AISC Specification for Structural Steel Buildings 2004 RCSC Specification for Structural Joints Using ASTM A325 or A490 Bolts 2005 AISC Code of Standard Practice for Steel Buildings and Bridges The following resources are also included on the CD included with this Manual AISC Design Examples, which illustrates the application of tables and specification provisions that are included in this Manual.
